Aaron Pribanic scattered five hits while pitching Nebraska’s first nine-inning complete-game shutout of the season Monday afternoon, as the Huskers beat Northern Colorado 7-0 to finish a four-game sweep of the Bears in Haymarket Park.

In his only prior start at NU, Pribanic, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound junior transfer from Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, went the distance in a 13-1 win against UC Riverside that was shortened to seven innings because of 10-run rule.

“He would’ve given anybody in the country a tough time today,” pitching coach Eric Newman said of Pribanic, who’s now 2-0 with a 0.96 earned-run average that includes 14 strikeouts in 182/3 innings.

Nebraska got all it would need on Nick Sullivan’s second-inning RBI double. The Huskers wrapped up their scoring when sophomore DJ Belfonte hit his first career homer, a solo blast into the right-field bullpen, in the eighth innings.

NU (10-2) has won nine straight (all at home) and will conclude its longest homestand of the season when it plays host to South Dakota State at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday. Right-handed junior Erik Bird (0-1, 0.00 ERA) will make his first career start.
