Osborne: Price of NU game tickets to stay the same
Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne said Wednesday morning that Husker season-ticket holders will not see a rise in individual football game ticket prices for the 2008 home schedule.
Season-ticket holders will again pay $52 a game, a total of $416 for eight games. Last year, since there was one less home game, the total price was $364.
That price ranked sixth in the Big 12 conference. Oklahoma State’s tickets were the highest, going for $59.80 a game.
For the sixth consecutive year, student tickets will remain at $21 a game ($168 for the season). UNL faculty and staff will pay $392 for season tickets.
Purchased on an individual basis, tickets will cost $65 each for games against Virginia Tech and the four Big 12 schools (Missouri, Baylor, Kansas and Colorado). For the first three games — Western Michigan, San Jose State and New Mexico State — the cost of a ticket is $55.
Coming off a Big 12 North title in 2006, tickets rose $4 for a 2007 season that was heavy with disappointment for NU fans.
Then-Husker athletic director Steve Pederson attributed the increase to escalating contract guarantees paid to schedule nonconference opponents and the rising cost of running a competitive program.
Pederson said then that Nebraska makes “good money” — roughly $3.5 million in revenue — for every home game.
The 2008 Huskers will face three teams (Virginia Tech, Kansas and Missouri) that finished ranked in the top 10 last season, and the first five games will all be played at Memorial Stadium.
This will mark the sixth time Nebraska has played eight home games in a season, the last occurrence being in 2002.
