ABC television’s “SuperNanny” Jo Frost will come to Lincoln to help a local family with its parenting issues.

The family, who has not been publicly named, was selected following an open casting call in Omaha on Jan. 26.

To date, the Lincoln family is the only Nebraska family selected from the casting call.

As part of the show, Frost will spend several days with the family observing day-to-day life and providing techniques to help parents stop their children’s unwanted behavior. Frost then leaves the family for a few days to let them implement her suggestions, and returns at the end to see how things have progressed.

The show featuring the Lincoln family will air sometime this season, before May.

" OMG - parents need to take responsibility for their kids! Had the parents done so they wouldn't need "Super Nanny" pfft! "

" I recall reading a few months ago, that this women is anything but a nanny, and more of a fraud than anything, and that her creditentals are bogus.

Any family seriously thinking about bringing her into their homes, seriously needs to rethink this, and perhaps consider professional counseling instead of reality television.

" no reason to down parents who have realized a problem and are seeking professional advice, atleast they are trying to correct a problem, hope it works out well for them. Many other parents just let it go and have bigger problems later in life. good job parents "

" I think it's great for a family to recognize they are having trouble. It's much better than the parents losing their control and taking it out on the kids. Sometimes parents need help...and good for them for asking for it. "

" this should put lincoln on the map. A prize winning show like the nanny is almost as good as the biggest loser. "

" The Super Nanny (aka Jo Frost) is a beautiful and powerful woman. I would be proud to have her come to my home and teach me how to deal with unwanted behavior. "

" Glad Lincoln can represent dysfunction on national television. "

" Maybe this show wouldn't have a reason to exist if people would take responsibilty for parenting, which means: stop being lazy, stop using television as a babysitter, stop spoiling children, and use some real discipline. "

" I for one like Supernanny and for the record her credentials are NOT bogus. As a parent of a small child...I have utilized many of Jo's techniques and most of them have worked very well for us. Yes, it is a reality show and there are some made for TV moments but if this woman is able to help a family even a little bit...than more power to her. If you don't like it...don't watch and leave the Lincoln family alone. Geesh...I love the whole mentality of "Hey fix your kids...get some control...kids today are brats" then when people reach out for help it's..."NOOOO...you are doing it wrong". Wow, I wish the people commenting could be parents of all the worlds children since they obviously know sooo much! "

zwinkey wrote on February 16, 2008 12:36 am:
" I certainly hope she is helping a family that i know of that has 3 EXTREMELY out of control children! Is there any way that Jo can help people who are in denial of their terrible parenting skills? The kids I am referring to (2 teenagers and one elementary school aged child) could use the services of a no-nonsense, tell it like it is nanny, like Jo!! "

" super nanny ha-ha. i have to agree with SRO on this one.its a joke.now i know i will get the pot going here. iam not big on spanking but there are times when a spanking dose some good . and for all you bleeding hearts out there there is a diffrence between a spanking and a beating.and i have 3 kids 20,18,7 and after all those years it only took one time for each of them 1 swat with a open hand to the bottom and they understood the unwriten rules . " Be careful to all those who wish to cast stones about families wanting to improve their relationships with their kids. Better make sure your glass houses are in order before rushing to judgement! "

" If this will turn into another debacle like the one that happened when Extreme Makeover came rolling into town. I wonder who, ultimately, will foot the bill for everything that goes along with something like this. Maybe THIS time it's for a family that actually DESERVES the help. Not a family that's out looking for a "freebie"!!!!!!!!!! "

" I agree with SRO. Why not just be a parent? Spoil the rod, spoil the child! "
