Take the Mensa test, bring a smart friend

Lincoln Mensa is offering its admission test Saturday, and if you’ve got a smart friend or sweetie who wants to take the test, too, you can get a two-for-one deal.

The group will administer the Mensa Admission Test at 3 p.m. Saturday at 128 N. 13th St. Anyone interested in taking the test should arrive by 2:45 p.m.

Anyone 14 and older can take the test (parental permission is required for 14-17 year olds). The test fee is $40 and a photo ID is required. Print out a coupon available at http://lincolnmensa.org, and two people can test for the price of one.

To belong to Mensa, you have to score in the top 2 percent on the test. One in 50 qualifies for membership; more than 4,500 people qualify in the Lincoln area, said Doug Gilliland, president of Lincoln Mensa.

Tryouts Thursday, Friday for Web reality show

Tryouts are Thursday and Friday for Lincoln’s first reality show, “Top Affiliate Challenge.” The show, which will be broadcast on the Web only and will film in Lincoln this summer, will pit business-savvy contestants against one another in the marketing world. Teams will compete to promote and sell Lincoln products and businesses on the Internet. Individuals will compete to win cash and prizes.

Live video auditions will be from noon to 4 p.m. today and 4-8 p.m. Friday at Nebraska Bookstore.
