Make sure you have your hats and gloves.

Certainly don’t forget your warm coat and boots.

And stay off the roads if you can.

The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Freezing rain or a mix of sleet and freezing rain was likely to develop Friday night and continue through Saturday morning, possibly lingering through the afternoon in some areas.

Precipitation is expected to increase in coverage and intensity by 6 a.m. Saturday. Ice accumulations of one-fourth to a half-inch or more are possible.

Because of potentially significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations, travel was not recommended from late Friday night through Saturday morning at least.

On Saturday, periods of rain mixed with freezing rain are possible, becoming all rain after noon. Expect a high near 40 and a bit of a breeze, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Chance of precipitation Saturday: 100 percent.

Expect a chance of rain tonight before midnight, then a chance of snow.

On Sunday there’s a 20 percent chance of snow before noon. The rest of the day should be mostly cloudy and breezy, with a high near 35 and gusts as high as 29 mph.

As the storm approaches, the city offered a few reminders for residents:

- Property owners are required to clear snow and ice from sidewalks by 9 a.m. the day after the end of a snowstorm. Adjoining wheelchair ramps and curb cuts must also be cleared.

- It is illegal to push or blow snow into or on any street, alley or sidewalk.

- Residents are encouraged to clear snow from fire hydrants.

If snow starts to pile up, the city may issue a snow removal parking ban. There are two types of bans:

- Snow emergencies mean parking is banned on emergency snow routes, arterial streets and city bus routes.

- Residential parking bans begin on the even-numbered (north and east) sides of the street in all residential areas. Once the ban on the even-numbered sides has ended, parking is then banned on the odd-numbered (south and west) sides of the street in residential areas. Parking is again allowed on the even sides.
