Not guilty pleas entered in Plattsmouth assault case
By the Lincoln Journal Star
Two of the three men accused of beating a Plattsmouth man with baseball bats on his front porch pleaded not guilty Monday in Cass County District Court.
Judge Randall Rehmeier accepted the not guilty pleas of Joshua Hauschild, 21, and Anthony Houchin, 17, and set their trial dates for Feb. 5.
Travis Meisinger, 18, is scheduled to be arraigned in district court at 3 p.m. Monday.
Cass County Attorney Nathan Cox has charged all three with first-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. The three Weeping Water men are free on bond.
They are accused of beating Tony Premo Sr. as he walked out the door of his Plattsmouth home Sept. 9. Premo was hospitalized with severe injuries to his head and an arm. He is recovering at home.
Authorities say the attack was related to a fight between groups of young people from Weeping Water and Plattsmouth. About 20 teens were involved in that fight.
