Red Report: Mo anger
By the Lincoln Journal Star
Husker senior receiver Maurice Purify admitted Tuesday he was “kind of angry at the fans.”
He said he’s tired of the fans who put on their red shirts and caps, then come down behind the bench when Nebraska’s trailing and shout negativity.
“They’ll say, ‘You guys suck.’ I’m like, if you’re going to support us when we’re winning, why can’t you support us when we’re losing?”
By the numbers: 8. Number of years since Nebraska has defeated Texas. The Huskers beat the Longhorns 22-6 in the 1999 Big 12 Championship game.
Earlier that season, Texas took down the Huskers 24-20 in Austin, handing NU its only loss in a season that ended with the Nebraska ranked No. 3 in the AP poll and No. 2 in UPI’s.
Scouting report: RB Cody Glenn
Husker coach Bill Callahan said on Tuesday that junior running back Cody Glenn is not in the doghouse.
Glenn has not seen the ball since he had two carries for 1 yard in the 41-6 loss to Missouri.
His playing time has been lacking due to the emergence of freshmen Quentin Castille and Roy Helu, who both have more carries than Glenn this season.
Junior running back Marlon Lucky has carried the ball 120 more times than Glenn.
“We’re just in a rhythm with those other players right now,” Callahan said. “I visited with Cody last week and explained the situation to him. We’re going to utilize him the best we can. Right now, it’s a situation where all three backs are doing well.
“It would be great if we could get him in, but right now, we’re playing the hot hand and they’re all contributing.”
Opponent Watch: Kansas State
Senior tight end Rashaad Norwood, who has been suspended the entire season, still could possibly return to play, maybe even against Nebraska on Nov. 10.
He was arrested in August on counts ranging from domestic battery to obstruction of the legal process,
Norwood, who pleaded innocent, will be in court on Nov. 9. His attorney, Barry Clark, told the Kansas City Star that he anticipates the trial will conclude that day.
Norwood was second on the team in receptions last year with 36.
If found not guilty, could he play against Nebraska?
“From a physical standpoint, yeah, I think he’d be in shape and could be prepared to play,” K-State coach Ron Prince told the Star. “He’s been working toward that. We’ll let all the legal people deal with all these issues and see where they go, but he’s been working to be able to be in position to play, and so we’ll see if that’s a possibility.”
