A 15-year-old student at North Star High School allegedly threatened to blow up the school during an argument with a staff member Thursday.

Lincoln Police Capt. Anthony Butler said the girl calmed down and apologized, saying she never intended to hurt anyone.

She was referred to the county attorney’s office on suspicion of misdemeanor disturbing the peace, Butler said.

Ice cream sandwiches stolen from McPhee

A box of ice cream sandwiches was stolen from McPhee Elementary School, 820 S. 15th St., during a burglary between 10:30 p.m. Thursday and 5:55 a.m. Friday.

Police are not sure how the burglar entered the building, said Police Capt. Anthony Butler.

A cafeteria door that opens into the main hallway had $50 damage, Butler said.

Computers missing after Pius X break-in

Pius X High School, 6000 A St., was robbed of about $8,300 of computers and computer equipment during a break-in between 6 p.m. Saturday and 3:07 p.m. Monday.

Someone entered the school through a construction area, said Lincoln Police Capt. Anthony Butler.

Once inside, the person or people responsible removed the computers and equipment from several rooms, causing about $500 damage, Butler said.

Diesel spills from semi

Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a diesel fuel spill Friday afternoon.

Capt. Mark Munger said at about 4:30 p.m., about 150 gallons of diesel fuel began spilling from a ruptured semi fuel tank in the parking lot of a Lenco warehouse near 52nd and Superior streets into a drainage ditch. Police didn’t know how the rupture occurred, but they believed it to be accidental.

The owner worked with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department to find a contractor to clean up the fuel, Munger said.

" Although I did not take the ice cream sandwiches, it inspired me to write a poem about them: I have eaten the ice cream sandwiches that were in the walk in freezer and which you were probably saving for dessert Forgive me they were delicious so sweet and so cold "

" That is a wonderful poem you have paid homage to. Most have probably not read it and will think you are really writing it though, you might be tried for plagiarism you know. "

" ....if the schools are going to be continually robbed over and over and over......wouldn't you think by now that a school will probably be burglarized? Hello people. Motion alarms....motion lights......a real "paid," person can patrol the school inside all night long. Less expensive than the losses...so don't make fun of it. Like John Baylor sentiments from his radio show.....what do we have to do? Be smarter than the thieves with ingenuity and think outside the box. Deter them from doing this or you pay the price. You do the crime.....you do the time. Period! "
