Lincoln Police are investigating a burglary at Matt Talbot Kitchen, a faith-based hunger relief and outreach program at 1911 R St.

Capt. Mike Woolman said that between 6:45 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday, someone pried open a door to a neighboring business, St. Vincent DePaul Warehouse & Stores.

The burglar walked through the St. Vincent DePaul warehouse and pried open an internal door to Matt Talbot, causing $20 damage.

Once inside Matt Talbot, the burglar went through several desk drawers in an office and stole $1,061 in cash.

" This is sad. Now the jerks are stealing from the poor and homeless. Gee, I hope I don't ofend anyone by calling these inhuman repiles, jerks. "

" Wow. It seems people strike new lows every year this time of year. Stealing gifts intended for the poor and needy? There's a special place in hell for you. "

" What if the people who stole ARE the poor and needy? Would that make a difference? Stealing is stealing regardless of whether its the Talbot kitchen or the country club. "

" While it is bad that someone would steal from an organization that does so much for the poor and neglected in Lincoln, I wonder why they would have so much cash there. "

" Hopefully the person who stole the money is using it for something worthwhile like food or clothing instead of stereo equipment, etc. Maybe when people read this story they will be inspired to give to Matt Talbot to make up for the lost money, just as people did when the Christmas presents were stolen from the church. Merry Christmas everyone! "

" My grandmother used to work there and loved to help people that are in need. but i can't believe that someone would break in there. there is plenty of other places they could have broken into instead there. They should not be breaking it to places anyways. They need to get off their butts and have a real life. "

" Probably need one of those suggested laws in the article where people have all the answers for new laws. I agree, places shouldn't keep any money in their businesses. "

" Why do they have that much money laying around. It should have been in the bank. "

" Sounds like they knew what they were looking for and just where to find it. "

" Even banks get robbed. I would guess that being the season it is that they get more monetary donations at this time and I assume they lock them up securely. Don't forget that the victim here is the kitchen. Sounds like some of you want to blame them for getting robbed. Whoever burglarized the place is who to blame. "
