Game balls: Big 12 Championship
BY LINCOLN JOURNAL STAR
Dan Titchener, NU punter
When the press-box announcer was rattling off Big 12 Championship Game firsts, Titchener’s name came up. He’s the first punter to land six punts inside the 20-yard line in a Big 12 title game. Two were inside the 10. If only the Huskers could’ve taken advantage.

Barry Cryer, NU defensive tackle
Cryer played some inspired defense and was clearly doing his part to fire up the rest of the Blackshirt troops. The Huskers did a nice job of stopping the run. Cryer finished with four tackles, two for losses.

Rufus Alexander, OU linebackerThe Louisianian certainly looked warm and comfy at frigid Arrowhead Stadium, playing the lead role in limiting NU’s running game to 84 yards. Alexander’s hit on Brandon Jackson at the end of a third-quarter run took Jackson out of action and left the Huskers having to rely on Zac Taylor, who threw three interceptions.

Malcolm Kelly, OU receiverAt 6-foot-4 and 217 pounds, Kelly has an NFL-caliber body. To be sure, Nebraska’s overmatched cornerbacks probably would vouch for his NFL prowess, as Kelly caused mismatch problems all night, especially on his 3-yard TD catch on a fade route in the third quarter that made it 21-7. The kid’s a big-time player.
