Coach Dennis Franchione doesn’t talk about injuries to players unless they are of the season-ending variety. But against Oklahoma last week, the Aggies played without starting defensive tackle Red Bryant and starting rover Brock Newton. In addition, starting cornerback Jordan Peterson missed the majority of the contest.

A&M got good news when offensive tackle Yemi Babalola, who’s been limited to just one start this season because of injuries, was able to play most of the snaps. Offensive coordinator Les Koenning told reporters in Texas that Babalola is now back to 100 percent.

NOBODY LEAVES EARLY: In Big 12 play, A&M has scored just 15 more points than its opponents (154 to 139).

SEEING RED: A&M, Nebraska and Texas lead the Big 12 with 30 touchdowns produced from the red zone (the opponent’s 20-yard line or closer). The Aggies have gotten a league-best 23 red-zone scores via the run.

THE TRAIN’S COMING: Jorvorskie Lane, known by teammates as J-Train, will establish an A&M single-season record with two more touchdowns, which will give him 20. The mark is currently shared by Joel Hunt (who rushed for 19 TDS in 1927) and Darren Lewis (who had 18 rushing and 1 receiving in 1990). Lane, by the way, has rushed or passed for a score in 12 straight games.

QUOTABLE I: “Everybody’s a little disappointed because of Oklahoma (a 17-16 loss), but I don’t think it’s as bad as I thought it would be. Everybody knows that we played a good game and I think they’re all right. I think everybody’s really eager to come out and just get another win (against) Nebraska.” — Freshman tailback Mike Goodson.

QUOTABLE II: “They’ve got more shifts than a Mack truck driving through the Rockies. They’re multiple. They’re everywhere. We’ve got a game plan where you just sit still, (because) they’ll be back shortly.” — Defensive coordinator Gary Darnell on Nebraska’s West Coast offense.
