Huskerextra.com staffers give quick takes on NU's 2005 recruiting class.

Curt McKeever: With all the ringing endorsements for Harrison Beck and Marlon Lucky, it's easy to lose sight of Zackary Bowman, the kid from Anchorage, Alaska, who comes by way of New Mexico Military Institute. "He may be the fastest and best athlete in the entire class," Bill Callahan said of the defensive back. "The great problem there is that we could use him on the offensive side of the ball, as well." The next Slash? Sounds interesting.

John Mabry: What's in a name? A lot if you're Ndamukong Suh, a D-lineman from Portland, Ore., and one of the biggest stars of this class. Ndamukong (en-dom-ah-ken)  means "House of Spears" with Cameroon's Ngemba tribe. Suh is a 6-4, 300-pound house of a man who wants to learn. He places a high emphasis on academics — Cal was the other top school on his list — and plans to study engineering. Suh provides this recruiting class with brains and brawn.

Brian Rosenthal: Harrison Beck may someday be the QB that leads Nebraska back to prominence. But not this year. Not as a freshman. That's why getting a player with the experience of Zac Taylor is key. Given Joe Dailey's struggles and Jordan Adams' health issues, I wouldn't be surprised to see Taylor start this season. He's a true leader, he understands the offense, and he's a winner. He might be the most important signee.

Steven  M. Sipple: I continue to be intrigued by Marlon Lucky, the running back from North Hollywood, Calif. On Wednesday, Coach Bill Callahan described the 6-foot, 210-pound Lucky as "a franchise-type back." The coach said Lucky could do it all. I think the kid's going to be a good fit here. He's not into the Hollywood glitz; he exudes more of a blue-collar approach, yet he'll dazzle with his playmaking ability.
