Husker Castaway: Sam Koch

Friday, Nov 12, 2004 - 10:13:42 am CST
Sam Koch is this week's Husker Castaway. The Nebraska junior punter got to sport a stylish bucket hat and pretend he was stranded on an island. On this island, the Seward graduate could have company in the form of the listed subjects below. But he could have only one of each. This is Sam's Island:

* DVD: "I don't really watch too many movies but I think my favorite was ‘Fast and the Furious' because they dealt with cars. I have a (‘84) Camaro and I like to rebuild it. I like to do stuff with the engine and make it look nice, hopefully some day make it a show car. I'd like to one day get older cars like a ‘69 Camaro and show that."

* CD: "I like the new Tim McGraw CD. I like the song ‘Live Like You Were Dying.' It's just a good song talking about his dad. We had an NFL speaker who came in and said how that song played an important role in his life, too."

* Book or magazine: "I'd just have to take a Sports Illustrated. If I took any book it'd probably be the Bible. I'm trying to become a Catholic now. I'm trying to make it a part of my life and know a little bit more about it. I didn't go to church too much growing up but now that my fiancee's a Catholic, I want to convert to it."

* Photo: "It'd be of my fiance (Nikki) and my two boys: Ryan (6) and Braxtyn (7 months) I'm getting married May 21 this coming year. (Fullback) Steve Kriewald's getting married that same day I think, too."

* Video game: "Video game would probably be a college football game, like ‘NCAA 2005' or a race-car game."

* Food item: "Pizza, as long as I could have different toppings every day. I'd have it be from Pizza Hut."

* Teammate: "I would have to pick (kicker) Sandro DeAngelis. He can make you laugh any time of the day. He's quite the comedian of the team I feel like. He's there to pick me up when I'm down. Great guy.

* Girl: "I'd take (Nikki). If I didn't say her, she wouldn't like that much."
