Crowd Noise, 9/12

Here's what a few fans had to say after Saturday's game:

MARK PARRELL, Scottsbluff: "I would have to say that our Nebraska offense was Southern Mississippi's best offense, too. There was some good play, but there were just too many errors. The defense played a good game. I can't complain. But you give them too many opportunities, and any offense is going to score. That's what it boiled down to."

PAUL INSELMAN, LINCOLN: "Nebraska had too many missed opportunities, too many turnovers. Then, the delay penalty late in the game really hurt them. Without that, I think (Joe) Dailey could have gotten a first down and then it's probably a different game. I thought Nebraska outplayed them, but gave it away. But I really thought they still might win it all the way until that final drive ended."

DENNIS BEATTY, New Britain, Conn.: "I think (Bill Callahan) is going to have a lot of work with his quarterback, the timing of the offense, specifically. The running game was pretty good. I was impressed with the defense. They only gave up one touchdown. You can't ask for anything else."

JEAN ANDERSON, KEARNEY: "It was disappointing. There are two things I hated about the game. I hated that the student section booed the other team when they came onto the field. And I hated when Southern Miss had an injured player and some people started the ‘Go Big Red' chant. I thought that was classless. On the field, I thought we beat ourselves. Southern Miss played a great game. I don't want to take anything away, but we made too many mistakes. To have (476) total yards and 17 points? That just doesn't add up."
