Nebraska will play its first game of the Bill Callahan era under the Memorial Stadium lights.

Husker officials announced Tuesday that the 2004 opener, Sept. 4 against NCAA Division I-AA Western Illinois, will begin at 6 p.m.

Nebraska athletic director Steve Pederson said the evening kickoff will give fans a chance to enjoy a full day of festivities before Callahan's first game as head coach.

It will mark the fourth time in school history that the Huskers have opened with a home night game. NUwon the previous three games, topping Florida State in 1986, Baylor in 1990 and Arizona State in 2002.

The remaining game times for Nebraska's 2004 season are to be determined pending announcements from the Big 12's television partners.
